Exploring the Relationship between Antioxidant Enzymes, Oxidative Stress Markers, and Clinical Profile in Relapsing–Remitting Multiple Sclerosis

We aimed to investigate the extent of alterations in pro/antioxidant balance blood patients with relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) relation drug-modified therapy, gender, disability score, and disease duration. 161 (67 men 94 women, aged 24–69 years, median 43.0) 29 healthy individuals (9 20 25–68 41.0) were included study. measured activity superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), catalase (CAT) as well concentration interleukin-6 (IL-6), lipid peroxidation parameters (LPO), total oxidant status (TOS), antioxidant capacity (TAS). The SOD did not show any significant differences between RRMS control group our In contrast, decreased GPx increased CAT was observed compared group. Additionally, influenced by gender use disease-modifying therapies. Disease-modifying therapies also affected TOS, TAS, LPO. Our studies indicated that enhancing may be more beneficial providing potential therapeutic strategies at modulating defenses mitigate oxidative stress this disease.
